Once apon a time there was a glorious land called Peanutbutterjelly Sandwich. It was divided into two districts, Jellyontop and Peanutbutterontop, by the Great Wall of Peanutbutterandjelly. The people in Jellyontop, called Jellyontoppers, or Jellies, were a pleasant folk, who went about their business happily and ate their PBJs with the jelly on top of the peanutbutter. The land of Jellyontop was filled with orchards and fields growing all sorts of fruit to make jelly. But the people in Peanutbutterontop, called Peanutbutterontoppers, or Peanuts, were dark people, for they went around putting their peanut butter on top of the jelly. They had massive fields filled with peanut plants for which to make peanutbutter, but horded their goods and refused to give any to the Jellyontoppers. Both lands were rivals and were constantly at war. So the land of Peanutbutterjelly Sandwich went through many years incompleted, for if Peanutbutterontop did not supply Jellyontop with peanutbutter, and vice versa, the sandwiches were incomplete.
Land of the Christmas Shrubs
Off in the distance, hidden from sight with a large, thick cloud, was a land almost identical to our own with one tiny Difference. This Difference was so important, so great, that it impacted every tiny detail in the land and shaped the outcome of everything. Now this land was very nice and mildly interesting, with cars, and people, and houses and birds that went about their business happily. Eleven months of the year, the people in this land lived normally, with the occasional argument here and there, but it is in this last month, the twelfth month, December that the Difference came into effect. On december first, everyone at some time, began to venture out of their houses to go an buy decorations for the holidays. Soon houses were decked in lights, statues, tinstle, mistletoe, menorahs, Kwanzaa items, and all the sparkly, light up plastic things you can imagine. But did you notice the one thing missing from this list? Something to do with the oh-so-popular holiday of Christmas? Right now you might be filling your head with the word CHRISTMAS TREE, with images of a triangle- shaped, green, bristly, tree, and yes, you are correct. For the people in this land did not have Christmas trees. Oh, they had something similar to it, but it was not the same. This absence of a Christmas tree, this tiny thing is the Difference that separated this land from the rest of the world. The Difference, is also what gave the land its name, for the land was called the Land of the Christmas Shrubs.
In the Land of the Christmas Shrubs, the Christmas trees were not tall enough, by law, to count as a tree. All trees must be taller than three feet in order to count as a tree.
